Birth Doula

Your birthing space needs to be protected and your birth hormones need to be coaxed so that you can surrender to your birthing power. I absolutely love supporting births!  Check out the Packages page for prices.

“My doula was such a calming presence during my birth and having her there gave me the guts to make the right choices for me and my baby.”

Antenatally

I take the time to get to know you, your family and what is important to you.

Birth preparation – discussing the stages of labour, the physiology and the role of the hormones.

Previous birth and pregnancy de-brief – talking through what might have happened and why.

Birth preferences – exploring options together, so you can make truly informed decisions.

Postnatal wellness preferences – exploring what you will need as a family to ensure you feel equipped, secure and empowered in the early postnatal days, weeks and months.

Infant feeding preparation – expanding or refreshing your knowledge of newborn feeding so that you feel confident to breastfeed or bottle feed.

Birth

I go on-call for you from 37 weeks until after birth.

For your baby’s birth I will be there to support you in any way that you need at the time. My aim is for you to feel empowered by your choices and to feel unconditionally supported in them.

I will be your biggest cheerleader, or quiet observer. I can provide relaxation reminders, and give you that boost of confidence when needed.

I am trained in using a woven scarf to help release pressure during pregnancy and labour. I am also trained in using movement to assist optimal positioning for birth – another thing up my sleeve which could come in handy.

Of course, I would be honoured to spend time with older siblings if they are around during your labour and/or birth.

I have access to various birth equipment for you, including birth balls and birth pools.

Doulas work alongside midwives and other healthcare professionals and are not medically trained.

I bring meals and make tea – nutritious and plant-based.

Entertaining older siblings – I’m also a trained childcare practitioner!

Holding the baby while you sleep, or shower.

Celebrating in your birth story and your new parenthood!
